When I was designing my nursery I came across Monte, a Canadian manufacturer who makes gliders that fit into more modern home decor. It was refreshing to know that there were companies out there that took modern approaches to baby items. Although we didn't get our glider from them we bought our son Oscar this little Cubino chair from them for our TV room. Oscar is already in love (see him pictured above in it)
I fell in love with the the charcoal and green colour combo as it was soft, and soothing and went with the rest of our decor in our house. Monte Cubino Chair $109 + Shipping

Family Photos, a home visit....
As I posted about in June, Aubrey and I comissioned Leigh, the owner of Tynan Studios here in Toronto to take some family photos of the three of us. Leigh came over for a second round of photos photographing Oscar in his natural environment.
These photos melt my heart, his sweet ruffled hair, bohemian shirt, and my favourite print from Sarah Jane in the back, and his beautiful Jenny Lind Crib from Dear-Born Baby. After these shots we headed to our garden where the beautiful green of the willow tree gives the backdrop for an amazing photo. I love this one of me tossing Oscar up into the air.
For Oscar, he did a lot better at the second round of photos at our house. If you're doing a family photo session I would kind of encourage you to consider the "home" visit or doing a shoot close to home, and the extra cost for travel expenses for the photographer are probably well worth it. Oscar is a pretty expressive guy, so him being in his "natural" environment resulted in some great photos. I get to go see them all in person at a preview in August, and then we have to pick some and decide where in our house they will go. Anyhow, I just thought you'd love to see these photos. I LOVE them.

Banana for Boxes
This past week has gone by much too quickly. Aubrey and I been searching for the right fridge and console. We got our Dining Chairs delivered. (I'll post them next week!) I've also busy with work getting ready to launch some new product. But during the days Oscar and I play and go for walks. I got my delivery of shipping supplies so Erin, Hudson and I made a fort in our backyard.
Oh, and PS. Nicole gave us a little shoutout on our Ikea + Toy = Cute art post. Thank you! xo
I have a feeling my monthly delivery of shipping supplies is going to be a big hit with the boys.

Sugar Beach on the first day of Summer
It's the first day of Summer, and the three of us headed Sugar Beach to explore. There is something appealing about the name "Sugar Beach" and I was excited to see the permanent pink umbrellas. It's a small beach, and absolutely beautifully maintained. Wondering why it's called Sugar beach? "The design for Canada’s Sugar Beach, by Claude Cormier Architectes Paysagistes draws upon the industrial heritage of the area and its relationship to the neighbouring Redpath Sugar factory." (via)
It was perfect weather, not too hot or humid. And thankfuly I brought my good camera and snapped some photos of my boys. The sun was perfect, and Oscar was in an equally perfect mood. Love these photos because you can see his little chicklet teeth that are coming in. :)

Easy as pie thank you cards
Oscar was given some beautiful items for his birthday and I think it's very important to write thank you cards vs. e-mails. I thought that because everyone loves a photo of the birthday kid, I did a photo of Oscar with my favourite colour combination of blue + green preppy stripes. And I got it printed as a "photo" at my local photolab. Even though I run my own stationery studio, sometimes cheap and cheerful works, and is totally appropriate.

You too could do this by designing something to be 4x6 in your graphics program and saving it as a JPG. It's super easy. The photo I used of Oscar cracks me up. He's learning how to wave, so it was hilarious that the moment I got my camera out he started waving at me.
(Photocards by me for my shop PennyPeople.com) Ps, The "We Design - You Print" option is a $25 design fee to design something like this, and then you just print it at your local photolab (No shipping or waiting for an order to arrive so it's super quick)

Milestone from last weekend
Sorry for the lack of posts this week. That garden makeover took a full day of work out of my week, so I've been busy working in the nights to complete orders, respond to e-mails. The blog has been somewhat Oscar heavy as of lately, so for those visiting for design/decor projects I totally apologize. I'll be moving back towards some of decor projects next week. But for those who don't mind a little chubby baby highlights this one is for you.
Saturday, June 4th, Oscar mastered the stacking rings just after turning a year. He just kept trying and trying. It was pretty fun to watch, and I captured his 3rd attempt on camera. :) xo

The start of baby proofing....
I was doing a little photo shoot in my living room a few weeks ago (hence why I had my camera on to catch this situation....) and I turned around to catch Oscar, having pulled himself up on our little table, reaching for tulips. They toppled over and I took them away. Little monkey We are now at a baby proofing stage in our house, which I will show you this week. This photo set was too cute not to use as an intro!

in love
Days like today make me smile. Maybe it was the combination of perfect weather, having Aubrey home from work (he normally works weekends) and the unstressful Holiday that Easter is, but the day was just perfect. The three of us just played and giggled all morning and in the evening we hung out with my Family.
I look at Oscar and can't beleive that he turns 11 months at the end of this week. And as I near his first birthday, I feel fortunate that I get to stay home with Oscar next year. I'm thankful that I have a job that I adore that allows me to stay home with him. (See my post on being a working Mom) I've just felt lately that my life seems perfectly balanced. And as I head off to bed, I'm reflecting on a wonderful day that I spent with my Mom, Dad, sister, brother and his girlfriend, my sweet husband and my sweet little son, I am just smiling. And sometimes that is worthy of a blog post.

Baby Post: Introducing Baby Shoes
Oscar was given a pair of See Kai Run shoes awhile ago and I had to post this photo. The retro stripes on the shoes, the fake laces, and well, combined with the plaid pants that are hand me downs from my good friend this picture just makes me giggle. (He's in the "Smaller" line of shoes still because he's so young) Honestly, little baby shoes melt my heart.
As Oscar is learning to walk (he is determined to always be standing) we're right now battling the issue of hardwood + socks = slipping. What did you Mamas do if you had hardwood? Make them go sockless or do you put shoes on them?
Fulton Sales is going to be hosting a giveaway of these shoes over the their Facebook page later on today so head on over.
